Montana State Closes Out Final Indoor Track & Field Home Meet

Seven Bobcats earned first-place finishes Friday as Montana State gets ready to compete at the Big Sky Championships next week
BOZEMAN, Mont. – The Montana State track and field program wrapped up the Big Sky Tuner on Friday, Feb. 21, inside of Worthington Arena. The meet was the Bobcats' final competition prior to the 2020 Big Sky Indoor Championships.
MSU's men's and women's teams combined for seven first-place showings. Freshmen Evelyn Adams and Ian Fosdick each claimed their collegiate bests while taking first in the women's 60 hurdles and men's triple jump, respectively. Adams clocked a time of 8.89 seconds while Fosdick recorded a leap of 46 feet, 7.25 inches.
Twila Reovan and Leah Klein each picked up first-place finishes for the women's team. Reovan placed first in the long jump with a mark of 17-11 (5.46m), while she also took second in the triple jump with a leap of 37-08.75 (11.50m). Klein placed atop of the shot put standings with her throw of 45-09 (13.94m) and also took third in the weight throw with a toss of 53-11.25 (16.44m).
Duncan Hamilton (4:11.49) finished first in the mile, Noah Martin (6-08.25) placed first in the high jump) and Wyatt Thompson-Siporen (16-00.75) had the best pole vault on the men's side. Thompson-Siporen also took second in the long jump (22-05.75) and fourth in the high jump (6-00.50).
Both squads had multiple athletes earn personal-best times or marks on Friday.
Carter Slade and Zach Smith each had two collegiate bests in their respective events for the men's team. Also recording lifetime bests for the men in at least one event were Caleb Neth (60), Alex Hershey (200), Lucas Jepsen (400), Levi Taylor (mile) and Gannon Chamberlain (mile).
Madi Arneson, Lindsay Benson and Zoe Waddell each recording a personal best in at least one throwing event for the Bobcat women's team. Lexi Kyro and Megan Good each claimed their best times of their college careers in the 800, while Zoe Johnson cleared her Bobcat-high of 5-05 (1.65m) in the high jump.
Claiming top-three finishes in at least one event for the Bobcat women were Arneson (shot put), Maddie Brockel (60), McKenna Ramsay (800), Gillian Maness (mile), Kathleen Glockner (3,000) and Alex Hellenberg (long jump). The MSU men's squad picked up top-three showings from Bill Yeager (400), Cameron Carroll (800), Derrick Olsen (60 hurdles), Bradley Graves (60 hurdles), Alec Nehring (shot put) and Ethan Saberhagen (weight throw).
Montana State makes its next appearance in Pocatello, Idaho. The Bobcats will compete at the Big Sky Conference Championships inside of Idaho State's Holt Arena from Feb. 27-29.
