Montana State concludes memorable season with strong performances in Eugene
EUGENE, Ore. --- The Montana State women's track & field team concluded its 2026 season with a trio of strong performances at Hayward Field as the Bobcats competed in the 400-meter hurdles, shot put, and 4x400m relay on Thursday evening.
Tilde Bjerager led the way with an 11th-place finish in the 400m hurdles, while Sydney Brewster placed 14th. Both Bobcats earned Second-Team All-America honors, while the 4x400m relay team of Bjerager, Peyton Garrison, Giulia Gandolfi, and Caroline Hawkes were named Honorable Mention All-Americans thanks to their 21st-place performance to wrap up the evening.
"Sydney, Tilde, and the women's 4x400 relay all competed really well," Dale Kennedy Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Lyle Weese said. "Today concluded a great year for our women's team. Three seniors – Giulia, Peyton, and Caroline – finished up their careers as Bobcats. They did so much in their time at MSU, including huge contributions to this year's team conference championship. We are very thankful to them and for their commitment to the team and program."
Bjerager wrapped up her memorable freshman campaign with a time of 56.36 to finish 11th in the 400-meter hurdles semifinals, including third in her heat. She became the highest placing women's 400m hurdler at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in program history, joining Amanda Jaynes (2018) and Paige Squire (2015) in competing in the event at Nationals. With her result, she was named a Second-Team All-American.
Brewster also took home Second-Team All-America honors with a 14th-place finish in the shot put. She recorded a mark of 16.61 meters/54 feet, 6.00 inches on her third attempt to add her second All-America honor of the season after taking home second-team honors during the indoor season. Brewster is the first Bobcat woman in program history to compete in the shot put at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
The women's 4x400m relay team of Bjerager, Garrison, Gandolfi, and Hawkes clocked a time of 3:32.97 to finish 21st in the event's semifinals. The time marked their second-fastest of the season and put a bow on a strong 2026 campaign for the Bobcats. The Cats matched their 21st-place result from the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships but surpassed last year's time of 3:36.70 by nearly four seconds. Garrison, Hawkes, and Gandolfi all competed at the NCAA Championships for the second-straight year, while Bjerager marked the addition to this year's 4x400m relay squad.
