Bobcats Travel to Sacramento State, Portland State

After enjoying four consecutive matches in the friendly confines of Shroyer Gym, the Bobcat volleyball team will now play four on the road, beginning Thursday, Oct. 22 at Sacramento State in The Hornets Nest. Montana State will conclude its road trip at Portland State, Saturday, Oct. 24 in the Stott Center.
FOUR ON THE ROAD:
After enjoying four consecutive matches in the friendly confines of Shroyer Gym, the Bobcat volleyball team will now play four on the road, beginning Thursday, Oct. 22 at Sacramento State in The Hornets Nest. Montana State will conclude its road trip at Portland State, Saturday, Oct. 24 in the Stott Center. The following week, MSU will travel to Idaho and Eastern Washington.

THAT WAS THE WEEK THAT WAS:
Despite a match-high 14 kills from Natalee Godfrey and a career-high 12 kills via Kiana Black, it wasn't enough for Montana State to overcome serve-receive troubles and a big Idaho block as the Vandals swept the Bobcats 25-21, 26-24, 25-22, Saturday night in Shroyer Gym. Aside from Godfrey and Black's efforts, Montana State also received a strong contribution from Katie Harrington, who finished with a match-high 40 assists. Junior Alexandra Rader finished with eight kills and a .312 attack mark, while Kasey Altman and Natalie Passeck led MSU with 13 and 11 digs, respectively. First-year Montana State head coach JJ Riley got the start he was looking for as the Bobcats cruised to an opening set victory over undefeated Eastern Washington. MSU battled in sets two and three as well, before eventually falling to the Eagles 16-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-8, Thursday night. Freshman Chase Doughty finished with a career-high 13 kills. She also recorded a double-double with a team-high 11 digs. Also in double digit kills for the Bobcats were Godfrey 11 and Passeck ten.
BOBCAT PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Senior middle blocker Natalee Godfrey was named Bobcat Player of the Week for her efforts against Eastern Washington and Idaho. The Eugene, Oregon product continues to be one of the top middles in the conference. Last weekend, Godfrey totaled 25 kills, averaging 3.57 per set, while notching a .340 attack mark. In addition, she recorded an assist, a block and four digs. Godfrey had her best outing of the weekend against Idaho, amassing 14 kills (4.67 kps) with a .345 hitting percentage. She also posted three digs and a block against the Vandals. On Thursday night, Godfrey posted 11 kills and a .333 attack mark against the Eagles. She has been in double-digit kills on eight occasions this season.
