“It was a tough night,” said MSU head coach JJ Riley. “It was one of those nights where we just couldn’t get anything going and they played great. Sacramento is a good team and they put us on our heels quickly and we struggled to respond."
Sacramento State out-hit Montana State .467 to .038, en route to a 25-15, 25-7, 25-12 win over the Bobcats, Thursday night in Hornet Gym.
Montana State (3-14, 1-8) struggled to find any offense and were led by Natalie Passeck and Natalee Godfrey with four kills, apiece. In total, MSU mustered just 15 kills over the course of the match.
Sacramento State (19-5, 6-3) had three players in double-figures led by Morgan Stanley with 12 kills.
"It was a tough night," said MSU head coach JJ Riley. "It was one of those nights where we just couldn't get anything going and they played great. Sacramento is a good team and they put us on our heels quickly and we struggled to respond.
"We need to just throw that one away and get focused on staying together as a team and prepare for our next match," Riley said.
Defensively, the Bobcats were paced by Loni Kreun and Kasey Altman with seven and six digs, apiece, and Kiana Black with a match-high four blocks.
Montana State will play at Portland State on Saturday night.
