Montana State’s Hinrichs Elevated to Associate Head Volleyball Coach

Montana State second-year volleyball assistant Katie Hinrichs has been elevated to associate head coach, announced Bobcat head coach Daniel Jones on Friday.
BOZEMAN, Mont. – Montana State second-year volleyball assistant Katie Hinrichs has been elevated to associate head coach, announced Bobcat head coach Daniel Jones on Friday. Hinrichs has been instrumental in MSU's turn-around over the past two seasons.
"Katie has had a huge impact on our program since she arrived on campus," Jones said. "This is a recognition of the work she has already done and the value she brings on a day-to-day basis in the recruiting of athletes and the development of our current squad."
This fall, the Bobcats posted their second straight double-digit winning season- its first back-to-back double-figure totals since 2004 and 2005. In addition, MSU made its first Big Sky Conference Tournament appearance since 2012, and just its second postseason visit since 2005.
"Katie exudes our program values," Jones stated. "She is passionate about leaving a legacy by being a transformative coach, investing in our current student-athletes, and making sure those that we recruit are of the highest character. She brings a driven work ethic, a competitive nature and relatability that is integral in our continued growth as a program."
Under Hinrich's leadership, the Bobcats have won three of four Brawl of the Wild matches against Montana; watched libero Allyssa Rizzo garner all-conference accolades – a first for MSU since 2015; swept offensive and defensive player of the week kudos; and capture its first non-conference tournament title at Utah State in 2017.
"She does a phenomenal job promoting Montana State as an institution, as well as the MSU volleyball program," Jones stated. "Katie has a complete and unwavering belief in what we are building."
