After jumping out to a 2-0 advantage, the Montana State volleyball team was unable to close out the match as Idaho State rallied for a 26-28, 20-25, 25-15, 25-17, 15-12 win over the Bobcats, Saturday night in Reed Gym.

"We cracked under the pressure and showed our inexperience," said MSU head coach Daniel Jones. "At intermission, we talked about coming out strong because we knew Idaho State would be fired-up. They made some nice adjustments and we didn't. We shot ourselves in the foot. Hopefully, we will get better from what we learned. They made the plays at the critical moments, and we didn't."
Montana State (6-9, 2-4) jumped out to early leads in the first two sets and was able to fend off late Idaho State (6-13, 3-3) rallies. The Cats captured the second frame on a Natalie Passeck kill.
Following the break between, the Bengals evened the match at 2-2 by outhitting MSU .351 to .123 in the third and fourth sets to force a fifth game.
"We didn't stay discipline in the third and fourth sets," Jones said. "However, I was happy with our fight in the final set. We're learning about ourselves."
ISU took a 6-3 lead in the fifth set, before MSU tied the game at 6-6 on a Kiana Black kill. The Bengals scored three straight to take a 9-6 advantage and held the lead until an Idaho State hitting miscue evened the frame at 12-12. Then Bengals reeled off the last three points of the match on a Bobcat hitting error followed by two kills.
Passeck guided MSU with a team-high 17 kills, while Hannah Scott added ten. Defensively, the Cats were led by Allyssa Rizzo with 30 digs, while Kelsie White and Savannah Laws chipped in six blocks, apiece.
MSU will host North Dakota on Friday in Shroyer Gym.
