Weber State won a hard-fought opening set, making two less hitting errors than Montana State, and used the momentum to post a 28-26, 25-20, 25-21 win over the Bobcats, Thursday night in Swenson Gym.

Montana State was paced by freshman Natalie Passeck with a team-high 10 kills, while Kiana Black added seven kills and a team-high .542 attack mark.
Defensively, MSU was led by Kasey Altman with 11 digs and Natalee Godfrey with five blocks.

For the match, Weber State out-hit Montana State .247 to .181 and held a slight 10-9 advantage in blocking. MSU committed 14 errors in its serve-receive game, while the Wildcats posted nine miscues.

WSU had three players in double-figure kills, guided by Amanda Varley with 13 kills and a .242 attack mark.

"We had a tough time stopping their two outsides and they got some key blocks on us at pivotal times," said MSU head coach JJ Riley. "Going into the match we knew the key was going to be which team stayed in system more and they were able to do that more than we did, which made it hard for us to slow them down.

"The girls battled and kept making adjustments all the way to the end, so we need to celebrate that," Riley added. "Now, it's time to get ready for the Griz."

Montana State will close out its season at Montana on Saturday night.
