One of two players to play in every set last season, Penewell will be asked to contribute even more this season...has established herself as one of MSU’s ‘go-to’ players...a solid and consistent performer.
2010
Entered the Bobcat program after sitting out the 2009 season following her freshman season at Colorado...was one of two MSU players to see action in all 105 sets...ended the fall averaging 1.46 kills and a team-high .73 blocks per set...posted two matches in double-figure kills, including 11 against Northern Colorado and ten versus Weber State...registered season-best six total blocks on two occasion with the last versus Idaho State...notched a season-high 12.5 points at Weber State as the Bobcats rallied for a five-set win...her seven solo blocks and 70 block assists ranked first on the Montana State team...had 40 digs on the season and recorded a season-best five saves against Portland State...logged eight service aces recording one ace in eight separate matches...for her efforts was named Big Sky Conference Newcomer of the Year...was an All Big Sky Conference Academic honoree

Played in 12 matches at Colorado...in her first career start with the Buffaloes, she notched 14 kills, a .600 hitting percentage and eight block assists in CU’s five-game win over Kansas...ended the year averaging 1.14 blocks per game, which included a season-matching eight block assists against Iowa State and Texas Tech... was a Big 12 All Academic honoree at Colorado.
High School
Penewell prepped at Newport Harbor High School, where she was a two-year letterwinner. As a senior, she helped the Sailors to a 25-4 record and a Sunset League title, while recording 207 kills and 57 blocks...For her efforts, Penewell she was named to the All-Sunset League First Team, the Daily Pilot Dream Team, and the All-Orange County squad...Newport Harbor’s team was ranked fifth in the nation during her senior season, and Penewell was ranked as a top 100 player.
