BOBCAT OF THE WEEK: Junior outside hitter Kira Thomsen has been named the Bobcat of the Week for her efforts against Idaho and Eastern Washington. For the two matches, the product of Parker, Colo., averaged 4.25 kills and 4.00 digs per set with a .284 attack mark. In addition, she chipped in five blocks and three aces. Thomsen posted a season-high 24 kills as the Bobcats dropped a 3-2 decision at EWU. Her 19th kill against the Eagles was the 1,000th of her career, making Thomsen the 17th member of the MSU's prestigious 1000-Kill Club. Thomsen also notched 23 digs, four blocks and three aces against EWU. In Montana State's win over Idaho, Thomsen recorded 10 kills, nine digs and a block. On the season, she is averaging 3.24 kills and 3.21 digs per set.
BOBCAT BITES: Kira Thomsen became the 17th member of MSU's 1000-Kill Club last Saturday at Eastern Washington...Sophomore Jourdain Klein notched a career-high 23 kills against Eastern Washington on Saturday night. For the match, Klein hit .298 (23-6-57) from the field and added three blocks...Montana State set a school, state of Montana, and Big Sky Conference volleyball attendance record when 6,457 fans jammed into Worthington Arena on Sept. 30 against Montana.

THE SCOUTING REPORT:
Sacramento State is 11-12 overall and 7-4 in Big Sky Conference after dropping a 3-1 decision to Northern Colorado and taking a 3-0 decision from Northern Arizona last Saturday in The Nest. On the season, the Hornets have been led by Bridgette Smith and Caitlin Volkman, who averaged 2.75 and 2.68 kills per set, respectively. Defensively, Caty Cordano averages 4.14 digs, while Tiyanane Kamba-Griffin chips in 1.19 blocks. In its first meeting with MSU, Sac State was led by Smith with 10 kills. Portland State is 14-8 overall and 9-2 atop the Big Sky. PSU is led by Sophia Meyers at 3.28 kills per set.

The Bobcats starting rotation includes four players from the Treasure State. In all, MSU has five athletes from its home turf on the roster. Starters include setter Audrey Hofer (Helena/Capital), middle blocker Jordan Radick (Bozeman), outside hitter Jordan Klein (Ennis) and libero Lauren Lindseth (Great Falls/CMR). The fifth is defensive specialist Shayla Webber (Joliet), who has seen action in 17 of MSU's 23 matches.
HARD BLOCK CAFE:
Overall, the Bobcats are fifth in the league averaging 2.20blocks per set. Individually, Jordan Radick is fourth in the Big Sky averaging 1.12 blocks per set. On the season, Montana State's 202 total blocks is third best in the conference and ranks 75th in the nation. It's 2.20 bps ranks 122nd in the country. Individually, the Bobcats are paced by Radick, whose .97 blocks per set in all matches played ranks ninth in the Big Sky and 248th in NCAA Division I volleyball.
CLIMBING THE LADDER:
As the MSU program continues to improve, its numbers within the Big Sky statistical categories have shown improvement. In the 13 team statistical categories compiled by the Big Sky, the Cats rank among the top five in the league in eight categories, including #3 in kills (12.98) and assists (12.05); #4 in points (16.59), opponent kills (11.80), opponent assists (11.12) and opponent aces (1.34); and #5 in opponent hitting percentage (.197) and digs (15.88).
TOOL TIME:
Junior outside hitter Kira Thomsen returned to the Bobcat rotation after missing 14 matches due to injury against Montana on Sept. 30. The Parker, Colorado product recorded 11 kills and a team-high 16 digs against Montana in her season debut. Last weekend, Thomsen tallied 34 kills and 32 digs at Idaho and Eastern Washington. She posted a season-best 24 kills in MSU 3-2 loss to EWU. Thomsen's 19th kill at EWU gave her 1,000 for her career - becoming the 17th member of MSU's 1,000-kill club. Last season, the Second Team All-Big Sky Conference pick recorded a career-high 26 kills against Northern Arizona at the league tournament. Junior Emma Pence continues her assault on the Bobcat blocks records. This season, the product of Carson City, Nevada, has totaled 73 blocks, averaging 0.91 per set. Last fall, Pence was one of the top blockers in the nation averaging 1.34 blocks per set, which led the Big Sky and ranked 14th in the nation. Pence's 151 total blocks was tops in the league and seventh in the country. This season, she had recorded six total blocks on three occasions, the last coming against Eastern Washington on Sept. 22.

THE MENACE FROM ENNIS:
Jourdain Klein, a 6-1 outside hitter from Ennis, Mont., is averaging 2.44 kills and 0.85 blocks per set with a .227 attack mark in Big Sky Conference action. Last weekend, she tallied a career-high 23 kills in MSU's 3-2 loss at Eastern Washington. On the weekend, Klein averaged 3.63 kills per set with a ,215 attack mark. This fall, she has recorded nine matches with double-digit kills, and nine matches with four or more blocks. She recorded a season-high eight blocks against Harvard. Klein was named to the Bobcat Invitational All-Tournament team after producing 26 kills and 10 blocks against Boise State, Washington and UNT.
JORDAN IN THE MIDDLE:
Sophomore Jordan Radick averaged 2.25 kills and .88 blocks per set last week at Idaho and Eastern Washington. For the eight sets, she posted a .306 (18-7-36) attack mark. Radick notched a weekend-high 11 kills at Idaho with a season-best .688 (11-0-16) attack mark. Against Weber State on Oct. 22, Radick matched a career-high 15 kills, while hitting .273 (15-6-33) from the field. The Bozeman High product has been in double-figure kills on seven occasions and has notched nine matches with four or more blocks. Radick leads the team in hitting percentage at .326, which ranks fifth best in the Big Sky Conference. On the season, she has registered seven matches hitting .350 or better. Radick was the 2021 Big Sky Freshman of the Year and was also a 2021 All-Big Sky Second Team selection.
THE DISH:
Sophomore setter Audrey Hofer dished out 84 assists, averaging 10.50 per set, while also chipping in 1.75 digs at Idaho and Eastern Washington, last week. In MSU's 3-2 loss at Eastern Washington on Saturday night, Hofer handed out a career-high 56 assists. Her previous high was 55 set during MSU's 3-2 upset of Boise State. The product of Helena Capital recorded five kills and hit .625 (5-0-8) in MSU's sweep of Idaho. Hofer is third in the Big Sky averaging 10.38 apg. She ranks fourth overall at 9.42 apg, which is good for 105th in the country. She has registered five double-doubles this fall and recorded a career-high six kills at Bryant University.
TO BE OR NOT TO BE:
Sophomore Courtney Weatherby has done an outstanding job on the outside for the Bobcats this fall. The native of Kuna, Idaho has played in 20 matches and 75 sets, averaging 1.89 kills and 2.24 digs per set. Weatherby recorded a career-high 20 kills against St. Thomas (MN) at the Bobcat Classic en route to being named to the all-tournament team. In all, she has been in double-digit kills on eight occasions, and double-figure digs nine times. She leads the Bobcats with seven double-doubles. Weatherby tallied a season-high 22 saves as the Bobcats defeated Fordham on Sept. 9. Weatherby has also done a fantastic job from the service line and is third on the team with 21 aces. She posted three aces against Grand Canyon and Fordham. Against Northern Colorado, Weatherby registered a career-high three blocks, with one solo, and two block assists on Sept. 24. On Sept. 30, the native of Kuna, Idaho recorded 14 digs against Montana.
LINDSETH FAMILY LEGACY:
Montana State freshman libero Lauren Lindseth is part of Bobcat history as one-half of the first mother/daughter duo to play volleyball at MSU. Lindseth's mother - Kelly Modrow - played for the Blue and Gold from 1992-1996. The native of Minnetonka, Minnesota (Hopkins HS) played in 110 matches and 359 sets. In all, her career totals include: 889 kills, 733 digs, 128 blocks and 87 service aces wearing the No. 2 jersey. Like her mother, Lauren also dons the No. 2 uniform. Lindseth has played in all 23 matches and 92 sets this season as MSU's starting libero. On the season, she's totaled 349 digs, averaging 3.79 per contest. In Big Sky play, she is averaging 4.46 digs per set. Lindseth had been in double-digit saves on 16 occasions, including a season and career-high 32 digs as the Bobcat upset Boise State 3-2 in Shroyer Gym on Sept. 15. Additionally, Lindseth is second on the squad with 23 service aces, including a season-high two aces on seven occasions. She's also dished out 59 assists, averaging .64 per set.

Lindseth has played in all 23 matches and 92 sets this season as MSU's starting libero. On the season, she's totaled 349 digs, averaging 3.79 per contest. In Big Sky play, she is averaging 4.46 digs per set. Lindseth had been in double-digit saves on 16 occasions, including a season and career-high 32 digs as the Bobcat upset Boise State 3-2 in Shroyer Gym on Sept. 15. Additionally, Lindseth is second on the squad with 23 service aces, including a season-high two aces on seven occasions. She's also dished out 59 assists, averaging .64 per set.
