Montana State volleyball signee Audrey Hofer of Helena has been named the Montana Gatorade Player of the Year for the second time in her career.
Montana State volleyball signee Audrey Hofer of Helena has been named the Montana Gatorade Player of the Year for the second time in her career. Hofer, a setter at Helena Capital, also earned the honor in 2019. She will join the Bobcat program this fall.
Last November, Hofer was named Under Armour First-Team All-America. She is the first Under Armour All-American First-Team selection to sign at Montana State.
"Audrey receiving her second Gatorade Player of the Year award is really a great recognition of what has been a record-breaking prep career," said MSU head coach Daniel Jones. "She has been the leading light in the dynasty that has existed at Helena Capital where she has been a part of winning three Class AA state volleyball titles and two basketball state championships. I think Audrey's in rare company. You would have to look hard to find student-athletes with her credentials coming out of the state."
Hofer was one of twenty-four high school seniors named to the Under Armour squad. Nineteen of those players listed are attending Power 5 programs, including two each to volleyball powers Nebraska, Penn State, Stanford, and national champion Kentucky. The five-remaining athletes will head to Creighton (2), San Diego, Princeton, and Montana State. Both Creighton and San Diego have been part of the national volleyball scene for years.
"There is no doubt that Audrey is a winner," Jones added. "We talk all the time about bringing those winning ways with her to Bobcat volleyball and being a part of another dynasty here. The best part, from my perspective, with all these accolades Audrey has received, is that she is an even better person than athlete. No doubt we are getting a good one in Audrey Hofer."
