Pence Named #BigSkyVB Defensive Player of the Week

Montana State's Emma Pence have been named #BigSkyVB Defensive Player of the Week by the conference office for her efforts this past week.

Montana State's Emma Pence have been named #BigSkyVB Defensive Player of the Week by the conference office for her efforts this past week.

Pence, a sophomore middle blocker from Carson City, Nevada led the Bobcats to a 1-1 record on the week that included a win over Idaho State and a five-set loss to league-leading Weber State. In two matches, Pence averaged 2.13 blocks per set.

Against the Wildcats, Pence notched a match-high eight blocks and followed that performance with an impressive nine block match in a three-set contest with ISU.

Pence continues as the Big Sky's top blocker and one of the nation's best as well, averaging 1.93 blocks per set in Big Sky play. Pence is currently ranked 10^th in the nation in total blocks with 79 and her 1.39 blocks per set in all matches is tops in the league and 18^th in the country.

Montana State will play at Eastern Washington on Thursday night at 7 p.m. (MT).
