The Bobcats complete strong showing in Feb. 7 home meet
BOZEMAN, Mont. – The Montana State track and field program had multiple student-athletes complete personal-best efforts at the MSU Indoor Open on Friday, Feb. 7, in Worthington Arena.
The Bobcats completed over 25 combined season-best marks between the men's and women's teams. MSU's also had double-digit efforts that led to lifetime bests with three that placed on the Bobcats' all-time top 10 chart.
"It was great to see so many people building on what they've previously done this season and getting better," said Lyle Weese, Montana State's director of track and field. "I think we had a lot of PRs in this meet, so that's a really good sign going forward. I'm just happy with the team's performance overall."
MSU's women's program was led by several athletes.
Maddie Brockel placed first in both the 60-meter dash (7.76 seconds) and the 200-meter dash (25.80 seconds) behind her best marks as a Bobcat. Twila Reovan took first in the long jump behind her lifetime best of 18 feet, 1.75 inches (5.53m) in the long jump, while she also had her career-best mark of 37-10.50 (11.54m) lead her to a third-place showing in the triple jump.
Alex Hellenberg was the top attached athlete in the women's triple jump with her leap of 38-10.25 (11.84m). Her leap moved her from a tie for fifth to alone in fourth in program history in the event. She also completed a season-best clearance of 11-06.50 (3.52m) in the pole vault.
Sophomore Lucy Corbett moved to the top of the Big Sky performance list in the high jump with her season-best mark of 5-09 (1.73m). McKenna Ramsay (400), Megan Good (800), Trisha Carlson (mile), Kathleen Glockner (5,000) each recorded either a season-best time or crossing in with a personal record en route to taking first in their respective event. Other Bobcats that placed first in an event included Morgan Evans (60 hurdles) and Amber Prevedello (pole vault).
Earning lifetime bests in an event Friday for the women's squad included Gillian Maness (mile), Elena Carter (60 hurdles), Maisee Brown (pole vault) and Evelyn Adams (long jump). Collin Buck and Drake Schneider had two of the men's team's top performances of the evening.
