Montana will open Big Sky Conference play against Montana State on Tuesday, Sept. 24 in Missoula, before traveling to Bozeman on Tuesday, Oct. 29.
Fans across the state of Montana can watch the matches on SWX Montana, which has affiliates in Missoula/Kalispell (KTMF, 23.3), Billings (KULR, 8.2), Butte/Bozeman (KWYB, 18.3), Great Falls (KFBB, 5.3) and Helena (KHBB, 21.3). Charter cable subscribers can watch on channel 199 for all markets outside of Billings, who can find SWX on Billings Charter channel 503. Additionally, the matches can be streamed statewide on the SWX app.
"I am excited to showcase the Montana State volleyball program on SWX," said MSU Director of Athletics Leon Costello. "It is a great opportunity for our student-athletes, coaches and athletic department to promote the great things happening in Bozeman. The Brawl of the Wild is one of the best rivalries in the country and volleyball fans in the viewing area will have the opportunity to experience this as well."
The all-time series between the intra-state rivals favors the Bobcats 57-56 going back to the 1975 season. With Jones at the helm of the Bobcat program, MSU is 3-1 against the Grizzlies. Last fall, the two teams split the season series, each winning on its home court. The annual Shake Shroyer match last season saw the Bobcats sweep the Grizzlies in front of a standing-room-only sold-out crowd.
"Every year the Brawl of The Wild is a highly anticipated match for all of us; the respective student bodies, our athletes, coaches, fans and the whole state of Montana," said MSU third-year head coach Daniel Jones. "This historic rivalry heightens the intensity; this is the competitive cauldron that we all relish the opportunity to be a part of. We have the best rivalry in the Big Sky, and I would go as far as to say we have one of the best rivalries in the country, this will be another epic chapter in a historic rivalry and we're excited that SWX is teaming with the two flagship universities to bring our sport to all corners of the state."
