Wilson Named Big Sky Player of the Week

Montana State senior outside hitter Evi Wilson was named the Big Sky Conference Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts at the Montana Farmers State Bank Invitational, last weekend in Missoula.
Montana State senior outside hitter Evi Wilson was named the Big Sky Conference Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts at the Montana Farmers State Bank Invitational, last weekend in Missoula.
The product of Vancouver, Wash., led MSU to a 2-0 mark with victories over UTEP (3-0) and Cal State Bakersfield (3-1). Wilson was named to the all-tournament team.
For the weekend, Wilson posted 25 kills, averaging 3.57 kills per set, while hitting an impressive .358. In addition, she added 10 digs and three blocks on the weekend. Wilson registered 10 kills, while committing just one error in 23 attempts against UTEP and followed that performance with 15 kills and a .333 attack mark against the Roadrunners.
"This honor for Evi is really a reflection of the whole team," said MSU head coach Daniel Jones. "The efforts of the passing, the defense, the setting from Allie (Lynch) all set Evi up and no doubt, she's been working her tail off to get better, and this new role she has on the outside has really lit a fire under her that you can see in the numbers."
For the season, Wilson is averaging 2.84 kills per set with a .204 attack mark.
This is the second time a member of the Montana State volleyball team has won a weekly award this season. Weber State's Sam Schiess was named the Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week.
