“There is no doubt we still have a lot of work to do, but I am certain we are on the right path,” Jones said. “It’s clear that our athletes are invested in the process of getting better, and it’s very gratifying to have that reflected in their performance.”
The Montana State volleyball team won all three of its matches at the MSU Spring Tournament on Saturday in Shroyer Gym. The Bobcats defeated MSU Billings 25-11, 25-11, Montana Tech 25-11, 25-21 and Montana 25-22, 25-16.
"It was a great day of getting to compete against someone other than ourselves," said second-year head coach Daniel Jones. "At this time of year when you are practicing non-stop and you have limited opportunities to compete, it is easy to get tunnel vision, it was satisfying for all of us to see the fruits of our labors as we put all of the work into action."
Freshman outside hitter Hannah Scott paced the Bobcats on the day recording a team-best 19 kills. Scott also hit .295 from the field and added 18 digs. Evi Wilson also had an outstanding three match series with 18 kills and a .333 attack mark. Freshman middle blocker Kelsie White also posted double-digit kills with ten and hit a team-high .474.
"It was satisfying to see a lot of the things we have been focusing on reflected statistically," Jones added. "All of our hitters put out great numbers, and our serving and passing stats were solid."
Defensively, Allyssa Rizzo guided the Bobcats totaling 37 digs over the three matches. She was followed by Libby Christensen 15, Lexi Goroski 13, and Sydney Mathison 10.
