Bobcat Volleyball Adds Two High School Standouts to Program

Signing with Montana State are Jourdain Klein, a 6-1 outside hitter from Ennis, and Kira Thomsen, a 5-10 outside hitter from Parker, Colorado.
BOZEMAN, Mont. – Second-year Montana State head volleyball coach Daniel Jones has announced the signing of two high school standouts to join the Bobcat program next season.
Signing with Montana State are Jourdain Klein, a 6-1 outside hitter from Ennis, and Kira Thomsen, a 5-10 outside hitter from Parker, Colorado.
Klein recently finished her final season at Ennis High School guiding the Mustangs to the Montana Class C State Tournament and a first-round win over Scobey. Ennis finished the season 22-5 overall.
A three-time all-state selection, Klein posted 1,802 career kills, 540 career blocks and 248 career aces. During her tenure with the Mustangs, EHS posted an impressive 104-22 ledger.
As a junior, the four-time all-conference performer helped Ennis to a state title.
In addition to volleyball, Klein is a four-year letterwinner in basketball and track. Off the court, she is a four-time all-state academic honoree and a four-time honor roll student.
"Jourdain Klein is a phenomenally gifted all-around athlete," Jones said. "She brings good size and will be a big block. We couldn't be more excited to be adding a Montana kid to our roster, especially as high-quality as Jourdain, who in my opinion is one of the best to come out of the state in recent times. I've know her since she was a freshman and she's developed very nicely. She comes from a great family and will be a good fit with our program."
She is the daughter of Jeff and Betty Klein. Betty Klein is the head volleyball coach at Ennis High School.
Thomsen preps at Chaparral High School- the same high school that produced current Bobcat Natalie Passeck. Last week, she garnered Third-Team Under Armour All-American honors for her performance leading Chaparral to a Colorado 5A state runner-up finish and a 26-3 overall record.
Thomsen totaled 1,077 kills, 859 digs and 173 aces during her tenure with the Wolverines. As a junior, she was a second-team all-state selection. Thomsen is also a two-time first-team all-conference choice. She played club ball with Front Range and has experience in the USA volleyball system, as well. Off the court, Thomsen is a two-time academic all-state pick.
"Kira comes with a high level of talent and a high level of skill," Jones said. "She's been in the USA volleyball system in the high performance program for a number of years. She hits the ball very hard and has a really good passing touch. Kira is a competitor who is going to raise the level of play in our gym. She's a great person who wants to compete at the highest level she can, and she knows we're heading in the right direction and wants to help us get there."
