Montana State dominated the competition to wrap up sweeps in both the men's and women's dual action

BOZEMAN, Mont. – The Bobcat men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up their home meet on Friday, Jan. 19, by sweeping their three opponents in the dual-format scoring Montana State Dual Meet Invitational inside of Worthington Arena.

Montana State's men's squad outscored Utah State (78-59), Montana (89-55) and Idaho State (86-53) on its way to claiming dual victories over each. The Bobcat women's team topped Idaho State (82-65) and Montana (79-62), while edging out Utah State (74-67) for three dual victories of its own.

Multiple program top-10 marks were set during the meet.

On the women's side, Caroline Hardin moved into ninth all-time in the 3,000-meter run behind a converted second-place time of 9 minutes, 47.11 seconds. She finished runner-up by just .66 seconds.

Kendra Larson improved from 10th to seventh in the 800 in program history. She placed first in the event and her time converted was 2:12.14. Jadin Casey also improved a previous top 10 mark, moving from third to second in the men's 400 behind a first-place finish and converted time of 47.78.

The Bobcats had several athletes put together strong multi-event performances.

Amanda Jaynes finished first in both the 200 (25.54) and the 60 hurdles for the women's team. McKenna Ramsay earned runner-up finishes in both the 200 (25.58) and the 400 (56.84), while Taylor Buschy followed her in third place in both, including personal-best time of 25.74 in the 200. Morgan Evans also earned two top-five finishes for the Bobcats.

Mitch Horning finished first in the 200 (22.29) and placed second in the 60 (6.99) by tenths of a second for the Bobcat men's team. Caleb Neth finished first in the long jump (22-03.75) and also placed fifth in the pole vault (13-01.50). Drake Schneider earned lifetime bests with a runner-up showing in the 60 hurdles (8.50) and third-place finish in the 400 (50.07), while Parker Walton placed second in the 200 and fourth in the 400.

Several other victories were earned by Bobcat standouts on Friday.

Kyle Douglass and Calvin Root continued their strong indoor seasons, winning the shot put and weight throw, respectively. Trevor Simanski was the top triple jumper on the men's side with a leap of 44-07.00 (13.59m).

MSU's men's and women's teams each finished first in the 4x400 relay. The combination of Buschy, Hailey Phillips, Elisabeth Krieger and Ramsay won the women's relay in a converted 3:49.44, while the men's relay earned a converted mark of 3:17.51 behind the efforts of Walton, Sam Bloom, Christopher Lange and Casey.

The Bobcats' depth was on display throughout the dual meet with plenty of top-three showings.

Ty Mogan took second in the men's 3,000, Noah Martin placed third in the high jump and Wyatt Thompson-Siporen earned runner-up in the pole vault.

MSU's Alex Hellenberg finished second in the long jump, while Isabella Calabrese, Kelsi Lasota and Trisha Carlson took third in at least one event.

The Bobcat track and field teams make their first road trip next weekend for the Powder River Series Dual. Montana State takes on Wyoming in Gillette on Saturday, Jan. 27.
