Four individuals found their way into the MSU record book as the Bobcat split with Wyoming in dual action in Gillette on Saturday
GILLETTE, Wyo. – Several individuals had standout performances for the Montana State track and field teams at the Powder River Dual inside the Campbell Country Parks and Recreation Center on Saturday, Jan. 27. The Bobcats wrapped up the meet with the women defeating the Cowgirls 75.50-68.50, while the men's team fell to the Cowboys 74-69.
"I thought it was a really great effort by both our teams," MSU head coach Dale Kennedy said. "The women really rose to the occasion as a team and in terms of individual performances."
The Bobcats' women's team had multipleindividual victories, but its jumpers had the highlights of the day.
Truanne Roginske and Alex Hellenberg finished second and third, respectively, with program all-time top 10 marks in the long jump. Roginske's best leap of 18-08.00 (5.69m) moved her into a tie for 6th in Bobcat history in the event. Hellenberg placed right behind her and owns the seventh-best mark in the event all-time with her leap of 18-07.25 (5.67m).
Hellenberg translated her success by taking second in the triple jump. Her distance of 37-10.50 (11.54m) moved her to fifth in Bobcat laurels in the event.
The men's highlight of the day came in the shot put.
Kyle Douglass paced the competition with a throw of 60-05.25 (18.42m), which moved him to third all-time in Bobcat history. Not to be out-done, Alec Nehring threw a lifetime best mark of 56-03.00 (17.14m) for runner-up honors. It also placed him in the top 10 in the event on the MSU list.
Calvin Root nearly topped his lifetime best in the weight throw, but still finished first with a toss of 62-06.00 (19.05m).
"The first time over 60 feet is always a special moment for a thrower," Kennedy said. "That's something that definitely stood out. He and Calvin Root (in the weight throw) threw really well."
Earning individual event victories for the Bobcats' women's squad in the dual were Taylor Buschy (400), Kendra Larson (800), Anna French (Mile), Kelsi Lasota (3,000), Amanda Jaynes (60 hurdles) and Isabella Calabrese (Pole Vault). French's mile run came in a personal-best time of 5 minutes, 00.21 seconds while MSU also took first in the 4x000 behind the efforts of Hailey Phillips, Buschy, McKenna Ramsay and Jaynes.

Trisha Carlson achieved a lifetime best to take second in the 800 (2:15.18), Amber Prevedello set two personal bests in two different events and throwers Adeline Richardson and Brookelyn Palin completed two collegiate best marks each.
Jadin Casey finished first in the 400, Noah Martin took first in the high jump, Caleb Neth had the longest leap in the long jump and Wyatt Thompson-Siporen had the top pole vault to be among the leaders on the MSU men's side.

"We're moving in the right direction and this was certainly a good meet here for us," Kennedy said. "A lot of individuals have made progress. We're looking forward to getting back to the friendly confines of Brick Breeden Fieldhouse with the upcoming Bobcat Invitational."
The Bobcats return to Bozeman for their final three meets of the regular season. MSU looks ahead to the Bobcat Invitational which is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2.
