Hinrichs Named Montana State Assistant Volleyball Coach

Katie Hinrichs, who has served as Operations Director at Washington State for the past six seasons, has been named assistant volleyball coach at Montana State University, announced Bobcat head coach JJ Riley on Tuesday afternoon.

A native of Pullman, Wash., Hinrichs joined the Cougar volleyball staff in June 2011, following an outstanding career as a student-athlete at Lewis-Clark State. At Washington State, she was responsible for all team travel and meals, video analysis and scouting, community service and the Little Spikers youth clinics and summer team camps.
"We are very excited that Katie has decided to join the Bobcat volleyball program," said MSU head coach JJ Riley. "I know her former coaches at WSU and have a ton of respect for what they have done in Pullman over the past six years. Katie has helped that program go from the bottom of the Pac-12 to the top four last season, as well as being ranked in the top 25 nationally. She has been a part of building an elite program and understands what it takes to climb the ranks."
Hinrichs played libero for current WSU Head Coach Jen Greeny at Lewis-Clark State College and helped the Warriors to a 112-24 mark during her tenure in Lewiston, Idaho. In addition, LC State won four regular season and post-season Frontier Conference titles, and advanced to the national NAIA Championship Tournament all four years. Hinrichs, a three-year team captain, had school-record performances including digs in a match with 41 against Doane at the 2009 NAIA Tournament, single-season digs (561 in 2010), and her 1,585 career digs is second-best all-time at LCSC.
At Montana State, Hinrichs main responsibilities on court will be training liberos, passing, and team defense.
"Katie has pretty much done everything that needs to be done in a program while at WSU and that experience will help elevate our day-to-day operations as well as how we train our athletes," Riley stated. "We look for Katie to be able to push us in the right direction and help us to climb the ladder in the Big Sky as she has a great work ethic, drive to grow, and the discipline to make it happen. During this process, it became very clear and evident that Katie is not afraid to push and she is not afraid of challenges."
Hinrichs was a four-time Frontier Conference All-Academic selection. She received her bachelor's degree in Business Administration from LC State in 2011.
Hinrichs, who replaces Stephanie Grandits, has already started her duties at MSU.
