Bobcat Spikers Travel to The Biggest Little City in the World

Montana State opened the JJ Riley era going 2-2 at the Sam Houston State Bearkat Invitational, Aug. 28-29 in Huntsville, Texas.

After a two-week hiatus, the Montana State volleyball team will take to the court this weekend at the University of Nevada Wolf Pack Classic in Reno. The Bobcats will open tournament play against Miami (OH) on Friday at 5:30 p.m. (MST). The Redhawks are 3-4 overall, but have won two straight matches, including a head-turning 3-0 decision over No. 19 Michigan State, last weekend. MSU will conclude play on Saturday at noon against the Wolf Pack. Nevada enters the classic with 2-4 ledger. UN has faced two Big Sky opponents this season, defeating Eastern Washington 3-0, before dropping a 3-1 decision to Portland State last weekend. Weber State will also compete this weekend in Reno, however, the two Big Sky foes will not face each other.
REWINDING THE BEARKAT INVITATIONAL:
Montana State opened the JJ Riley era going 2-2 at the Sam Houston State Bearkat Invitational, Aug. 28-29 in Huntsville, Texas. The Bobcats opened tournament play with a 25-18, 25-23, 23-25, 26-24 win over Tulane as junior Loni Kreun posted a team-high 15 kills and 18 digs. MSU closed out opening day play with a 25-17, 25-16, 25-23 setback to UTSA. The Bobcats were led in the loss by senior Eli Svisco with seven kills. Montana State rebounded from its loss with a convincing 25-14, 25-22, 25-18 victory over Prairie View A&M on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Natalie Passeck guided the Bobcats with 11 kills and ten digs. MSU finished the Bearkat Invitational dropping a 25-22, 23-25, 25-16, 25-21 match to SHSU. Kreun and senior Natalee Godfrey paced the Bobcats with 13 and 11 kills, respectively, while sophomore libero Kasey Altman posted a team and career-high 24 digs.
