Bobcat Spikers Close Out Spring Drills with Sweep of Montana Tech

“We had a great spring,” Riley said. “Our focus was to get to know the team and leave them with a good taste and excited for the fall. They finished the spring excited for each other when things were going well and they came together and moved on when things weren’t going their way.”
Behind 17 kills from sophomore Loni Kreun and ten winners via freshman Kiana Black, the Montana State volleyball team concluded its spring season downing Montana Tech 25-16, 25-23, 25-22, 25-16, Tuesday night in scrimmage action.
"It was nice to see the team implement things we had been working on all spring in a competitive environment," MSU Head Coach JJ Riley said. "We had a very balanced attack and were able to get the middles involved. That was key."
Freshman Jolie Meade helped solidify the Bobcat middle with seven kills, while hitting .750 from the field. Junior middle blocker Natalee Godfrey, who garnered Second-Team All-Big Sky Conference honors last fall, played in one set and finished with four kills and two blocks.
Outside hitters Eli Svisco and Cassie Krueger finished with nine and seven kills, respectively, as the Bobcats hit .363 as a team.
Sophomore setter Katie Harrington dished out 55 assists, averaging an impressive 13.75 per game. Defensively, freshman libero Kasey Altman recorded 12 digs, while Kreun added eight.

Montana State will enter fall drills with 11 returners, including five starters.
