“New Mexico is extremely athletic and were very efficient the entire match,” MSU head coach Kyle Weindel said. “They were a little too much for us; however I did see some good things and we will build on them as we face a good UC Irvine team on Saturday morning.”

New Mexico out-hit the Montana State volleyball team .262 to -.044, en route to a straight set 25-16, 25-17, 25-10 win in the opening night of the UNM Invitational.

Montana State (2-5) had just two players with positive hitting marks, led by Eli Svisco with a team-high seven kills. Sophomore setter Katie Harrington dished out 17 assists, while senior libero Kasey Schlatter recorded a match-high 11 digs.

New Mexico (3-4) was led by Chantale Riddle with 11 kills, seven digs and five blocks.

MSU will face UCI and Bethune-Cookman on Saturday.
