Lianne Vicchio, who spent the past two seasons as an assistant volleyball coach at California State University Stanislaus, has been named to a similar position at Montana State University, announced Bobcat head coach Kyle Weindel.
At CSU Stanislaus, Vicchio assisted with the overall coaching, supervision and organization of the NCAA Division II institution that competed in the highly touted California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). In addition, she coached in the Rage Volleyball Club system.
"What stood out the most about Lianne is that she brings a fresh perspective, new ideas, an outgoing and likable personality, a desire to learn and an extraordinary work ethic to MSU," Weindel said "She relates well to the student-athletes. Lianne played and coached for two clubs in northern California, where we are currently recruiting.
"She has a ton of recruiting contacts in the northern California region," Weindel added. "More importantly, I feel that she balances the personality's currently on staff and has the ability to communicate very effectively with the players on the team and relate to the difficulties of being a student-athlete. I expect her to make an immediate impact on them and be a positive influence/role model for the players to learn from."
A 2013 graduate of CSU Stanislaus with a degree in child development, Vicchio played four seasons with the Warriors. As a two-time team captain, she garnered first-team all-conference honors on two occasions. She currently holds the all-time record for overall kills and kills per set at Cal State Stanislaus.
