Bobcat Spikers End Spring Drills with MSU Invitational

First-year head volleyball coach Kyle Weindel will get his final look at the Montana State squad as the Bobcats conclude spring drills hosting the MSU Invitational on Saturday in Shroyer Gym.
MSU will host a bevy of Frontier Conference schools. The Bobcats will open play against Great Falls at 10 a.m., followed by MSU-Northern, 12 p.m., Carroll College, 1 p.m., and ending with Rocky Mountain at 3 p.m.
“This is the culmination of training over the past seven weeks and putting things together,” Weindel said. “The team has responded well and we continue to be a work in progress. The attackers and blockers have become more comfortable with a new system and our defense has remained steady.”
Leading the charge for the Bobcats is a trio of seniors, including setter Jennifer Lundquist, outside hitter Macy Page and middle blocker Taylar Barney. Junior Nicole Baker, who set the MSU single-season record for digs last fall, returns as MSU's starting libero. Other returners include Sarah Horton, Megan Spofford, Kasey Schlatter and Shayne Kybartas.
Last season, the Bobcat posted a 6-23 overall mark and a 4-12 Big Sky Conference ledger.
Match format for the invitational will feature two sets to 25 points. The MSU Invitational is free and open to the public.
