Montana State head volleyball coach Kyle Weindel has announced his summer camps and dates.
Weindel, a former assistant at Ohio University, took over the Bobcat reins in February, and brings a wealth of experience to the Gallatin Valley and state of Montana.
“The MSU camps will be pretty much similar to years past, but we are going to expand to assist clubs and high schools with their programs,” Weindel said. “We are going to expand satellite camps, which essentially brings the Bobcats to communities around the state.”
The Montana State Volleyball Camp program includes:
The Bobcat Kids Camp, open to girls and boys up to age 12, will be held July 11-13. The three-day camp is specifically designed with young players in mind with equipment, techniques, drills and games modified to make learning the game fun. Campers will learn skills from current Bobcats players. It is a great camp for those players who have always wanted to play, but never had the opportunity. Cost of the camp is $80.
The Bobcat Individual Skills Camp will be held July 16-18. The camp is designed for the player that wants to improve all of their skills in the areas of passing, setting, defense, serving, blocking and attacking through fast-paced training and game-like drills. The camp is open to kids ages 11 and up and will be grouped according to skill level. Cost of the camp is $230 commuter/$290 resident.
Bobcat Team Camp will be held July 18-20. This camp is designed with an emphasis on competition. Each team will compete against other teams in a variety of team vs. team drills, game-like situations and will finish with a tournament. All levels and classes are welcome to attend. There will be a minimum of seven and a maximum of 12 athletes per team. Only 20 teams will be able to participate and early registration is encouraged. Cost of the camp is $350 per team.
The Junior Bobcat Camp is slated for July 20 and is the perfect opportunity to introduce youngsters to the game of volleyball. The camp is designed to introduce each fundamental skill set in a safe and high energy atmosphere. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Cost of this one-day camp is $35 and is open to kids up to 12 years old.
Satellite Camps are designed to bring Montana State volleyball and instruction to communities throughout the state. This type of camp is an excellent way to provide teams or clubs with elite training at an affordable price in the confines of your own gym. Satellite Camps are made up of two, 2 ½ hour sessions each day. The camp can be held over two, three or four days. An evening junior high program is also available based on demand. Cost of the satellite camps vary.
