Kasey Schlatter, a 5-9 outside hitter/defensive specialist from Canby, Oregon, has signed a national letter of intent to compete for the Montana State volleyball squad next fall, announced Bobcat head coach Sara Schaub
Kasey Schlatter (Schlatt-er), a 5-9 outside hitter/defensive specialist from Canby, Oregon, has signed a national letter of intent to compete for the Montana State volleyball squad next fall, announced Bobcat head coach Sara Schaub.
A three-year letterwinner at Canby High School, Schlatter was a two-time All Three Rivers League selection. She garnered team most valuable player honors as a freshman and senior and was named to the all state tournament team as a junior.
Schlatter led the Cougars to the 2008 Oregon Class 6A state tourney title.
“Kasey comes from an athletic family and has a high volleyball IQ,” Schaub said. “She played in an outstanding club program and possesses strong ball control skills. She is someone who we have had on our radar for awhile, and we're excited she chose to be a Bobcat.”
Schlatter's sister Garyn was the Big Sky Conference Freshman of the Year last season, leading Portland State to a league title. In addition, her mother Terri Jo played on the Vikings 1984 NCAA Division II Championship squad and served as an assistant coach at PSU from 1985-93. Schlatter's father Jim coached football at Portland State in the 1980s.
“Kasey has played all the positions on the floor and can fill many roles,” Schaub said. “Her versatility will get her on the court.”
Schlatter played with the Oregon Junior club program.
She joins early signee Ursula Kunhardt (6-0, OH, Corte Madera, CA) as newcomers to the Montana State program.
