
Utah Junior Olympic Coach Named Assistant at Montana State

Scott Keister, a long-time junior olympic coach and administrator in Utah, has been named assistant coach at Montana State, announced third-year head coach Sara Schaub.

Keister currently serves as head coach of the Rage Volleyball Club Elite U18-2 team.
“Scott brings a great wealth of coaching knowledge and experience to our program,” Schaub said. “He is also very connected to one of the strongest and up-and-coming regions of club volleyball in the nation.”
Last fall, he was an assistant coach at Northridge (Utah) High School, which won the Region I championship. Prior to his stint a NHS, he worked two seasons with the Xtreme Volleyball Club, serving in a variety of positions, including head coach and club manager.
From 1999-08, Keister was program director/director of high performance with the Intermountain Volleyball Association, located in Salt Lake City. With IVA, he directed numerous junior programs, tournaments, camps and tryouts. Keister also coached with the USA Region High Performance programs that made five overseas appearances.
During the same time, he was head coach of the High Country Volleyball Club elite teams which produced five region titles and made five appearances at the USAV Junior Olympic championships. Keister's 2003 JO squad finished fifth in the nation.
His collegiate resume` includes stints as a volunteer assistant at the University of Utah (2003) and Westminster College (2004-05). Keister is also a certified official with the Utah High School Association, USA Volleyball, PAVO and junior colleges.
A native of Evansville, Ind., Keister earned a bachelor's degree in exercise science, history and physical education from Weber State. He earned an associate degree in general education from Ricks College in 1998. Keister played at Ricks for two seasons as an outside hitter.
Keister replaces Sean Kiracofe, who departed MSU for an assistant position at UNLV.
