Bobcat Spikers Fall in Five to Big Sky Leaders

For the third straight match, MSU dropped a 3-2 decision, this time to Big Sky leading Northern Colorado.

For the third straight match the
Northern Colorado (11-7, 5-0), who sits atop the league standings, rallied for a 19-25, 25-23, 18-25, 25-15, 15-6 victory over Montana State (2-13, 0-6), Friday night in Shroyer Gym.
“What's there to say?” said second-year Bobcat head coach Sara Schaub. “We went the distance against the top team in the Big Sky Conference. We're getting better and better and our kids need to keep believing that their efforts are going to payoff.”
The Bobcats had three players in double-figure kills, led by freshman Taylar Barney with 13, Nicole Grypiuk 11 and Jodeen Rademacher 10. Barney also ended the match hitting a team-best .417 from the field, while adding three blocks.
“We came out a little too comfortable in set four,” Grypiuk said. “We need to learn to come out and jump on a team. We'll keep working hard.”
Defensively, MSU was paced by Meghan Albiston and Rachelle Allen with 15 and 14 digs, respectively.
The Bobcats also had a sizeable 8-1 margin in service aces, paced by Taylor Faught with three winners. In addition, Faught ended the match with 41 assists, seven digs and three blocks.
