Bobcats play at Colorado on Friday and CSU on Sunday
(Jan. 23, 2026) – Montana State heads to the Centennial State this weekend to face two of the top teams in the Mountain Region, visiting Colorado on Friday and Colorado State on Sunday.
The step up in competition comes on the heels of a season-opening road sweep. The Bobcats beat Marquette 6-1 and North Dakota 4-3, both in Grand Forks, North Dakota, to begin the 2026 spring season 2-0. Colorado and CSU both open their seasons this weekend.
"We are excited for another great opportunity this weekend in Boulder and Fort Collins," said Montana State coach Hailey Barrett. These are two of the best teams in our region and we know both matches will be a battle."
Colorado finished the 2024-25 season with a 9-14 overall record, 2-11 in the Big 12. CU added three newcomers to a list of returners led by seniors Anya Nelson and Rixt Van der Werff and returning graduate student Aya El Sayed.
CSU, which opens its season against Seattle at home on Friday, finished the 2025 season with a 4-18 overall record, including 2-8 on the Mountain West. The team is led by a pair of seniors, Metro State transfer Hanna Haber and Luana Avelar, who missed last season with an injury.
Led by senior Angel Bean, the reigning Big Sky Women's Tennis Player of the Week, the Bobcats took a 6-1 win against Marquette before earning a 4-3 victory against North Dakota. Angel Bean, playing at No. 3 singles, and Terezie Stverakova, who held down the fifth ladder spot last week, each stand 2-0 on the season.
Friday's match at Colorado begins at 6 pm at the Meadows Tennis Club. MSU visits Colorado State on Sunday at 12:30 pm at the Fort Collins Country Club courts.
