Bobcats Drop Men's Tennis Match to Weber State

Trio of Bobcat freshmen earn singles wins
BOZEMAN, Montana – Weber State used three come-from-behind singles victories to a 4-3 Big Sky men's tennis victory in Bozeman on Sunday.
Weber State's Ken Minh clinched the team victory with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 win over Kanika Jayathilake at No. 6 singles. Earlier, Connor Kruger won 1-6, 6-0, 6-3 at No. 3 singles over Andras Necz, and Tristan Sarap earned a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory over MSU's Max Relic. Those triumphs, coupled with Weber State's doubles point, handed the Wildcats the road win.
Bobcat freshman Dario Ciobotaru got the Bobcats on the board in dramatic fashion at No. 2 singles. Ciobotru won the first set 6-2 but trailed 5-2 in the second. He rallied to win out for a 7-5 second set victory. Freshman Rayen Hermassi's 6-3, 7-5 win at No. 4 singles came just after Ciobotaru's, and pushed the Bobcats in front 2-1 in the team score. Freshman Andre Stewart took a 6-2, 1-6, 6-4 win at No. 6 singles moments after Weber State clinched the team victory.
The doubles point proved pivotal. Andras Necz and Max Relic rolled to a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles, but Coutinho and Kruger followed with a 6-4 win for Weber State at No. 2 doubles. The Wildcats clinched the doubles point with a 7-5 win at No. 3 by Minh and Matteo Savio over Ciobotaru and Jayathilake.
Montana State dropped to 8-10 overall and 3-3 in Big Sky play with the loss. Weber State is now 8-11, 4-2.
