MSU Men's Tennis Team Captures 5-2 Win at Chicago State

Four freshmen captures singles wins for Bobcats
Montana State freshman Kanika Jayathilake earned a 7-5, 6-1 victory at No. 6 singles clinch Montana State's 5-2 team win at Chicago State on Tuesday.
Jayathilake's win handed MSU the team victory after the Bobcats won the doubles point then took points captured by his classmates on the fourth and fifth singles courts. Rayen Hermassi took a 6-2, 6-1 win over Percy Siercke then Andre Stewart finished off Andrei-Rares Negrut 6-0, 6-1. Combined with Dario Ciobotaru's 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 2 over Rodrigo Alves, all four of MSU's singles wins were turned in by freshmen.
In doubles play, Jayathilake and Jacob Huppin won 6-3 at No. 3, while Hermassi and Stewart took court No. 2 to clinch the point. Max Relic and Andras Necz fell at No. 1 doubles.
Montana State raised its record to 7-6 with the win, and finishes its three-game road trip on Thursday at UIC.
