MSU Men's Tennis Team Performs Well at ITA Regionals

Bobcats compete against Mountain Region's top athletes
BOZEMAN, Mont. (Oct. 12, 2026) – Montana State finished a successful week against the top men's tennis players in the Rocky Mountains at the ITA Regional Championships in Provo, Utah last Thursday.
Bobcat athletes won nine singles matches and four on doubles courts, winning matches against Pac 12, Mountain West and Big Sky foes. MSU head coach Mateus Ceolin called it a "great week of high-level competition and testing ourselves against the best players in the region."
Freshman Gareth Igesund led the Bobcats with three singles wins. His 3-2 record included wins against BYU, Idaho State and Idaho. Junior Eddie Biss finished 2-2 with wins against Nevada and Idaho, while sophomore Max Calaquian defeated players from Idaho and New Mexico on his way to a 2-3 record. Senior Andre Stewart and freshman Reuben de Klerk each finished 1-1, , while sophomore Ethan Masselis was 0-3.
The Bobcats continue to show proficiency in doubles play, one of Ceolin's objectives for the fall season. "I was happy with our doubles play this week," he said. "I have seen a lot of improvement on all of our doubles teams this year so far. This is been a big area of emphasis for us, and I feel that we are figuring out how to play a style of doubles that will help us be successful in the spring."
Biss and Stewart combined to win two of their three doubles matches, toppling teams from Idaho and Idaho State. Calaquian and Masselis and Igesund and de Klerk each split a pair of matches, the former winning against New Mexico and the latter against Boise State.
One of the fall season's highlights arrives when the Bobcats next take the court in two weeks. MSU hosts the Bobcat Invitational beginning Oct. 23 in the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center. "I'm looking forward to the next two weeks of practice before we play the Bobcat Invite here on our home courts," Ceolin said.
