Montana State heads west for Portland State Invitational at Columbia Edgewater Country Club on Monday and Tuesday
BOZEMAN, Mont. -- After a week off for rest, Montana State golf looks to get back to their winning ways on Monday competing at the two-day Portland State Invitational in Portland, Oregon.
The final tournament of the fall portion of the Bobcats' season gets underway from Columbia Edgewater Country Club on Monday morning with 36 holes, concluding with a final 18-hole round on Tuesday.
Live scoring will be carried on Golf Genius. Fans can access the leaderboards using GGID: PSUINV24.
"Expectations are high," head coach Brittany Basye said. "We want the girls to keep continuing where we're going. We've had a couple weeks to work on a few things. Obviously we're coming off a win and a good team finish but we still need to continue through that and finish the fall on a good note here."
Montana State is riding high after seeing two of their top golfers collect their first career tournament wins in consecutive weeks.
Lauren Greeny shot a school-record 6-under par 66 in the final round of the Eagle Invitational on September 23 to earn her first victory, picking up Big Sky Golfer of the Week honors shortly after.
The next week at the Diane Thomason Invitational in Iowa, Becca Tschetter dusted off the rust and won her first career tournament in her first outing as a Bobcat.
After having to sit out the first two competitions of the year due to NCAA rules, Tschetter shot a 3-over par 219 (73-73-73) to beat the field by three strokes and get her own Big Sky Golfer of the Week accolade.
Greeny followed up her win in Idaho by tying for fourth in Iowa, and comes into the weekend in Oregon playing the best golf of her career.
The Bobcats put together a fourth place finish at the Eagle Invitational before a stellar third place result in Iowa, checking in behind only Big Ten foes Iowa and Wisconsin.
Montana State will roll out the same starting lineup as that group two weeks ago, with Lauren Greeny, Becca Tschetter, Scarlet Weidig, Maddie Montoya, and Hannah Boraas teeing off. Eva Heinz will compete as an individual.
Greeny (1), Tschetter (1), and Weidig (4), have combined for six tournament victories since 2022.
"We're super excited about going to this golf course," Basye said. "We are at sea level, similar to where Iowa was, so club yardages might change a little bit but nothing too dramatic for the ladies."
Columbia Edgewater Country Club, which has hosted LPGA Tour events, will play as a par 72 measured at 6,041 yards.
"The big thing about this golf course is going to be hitting fairways—more importantly at this golf course because it's tree-lined and the greens are huge, so hitting the right sections of the greens are important," Basye said. "Bunkers are strategically placed so we have to be watching where we hit our tee shots and going from there."
