Seidl finishes day two of competition tied for 59th
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. --- Montana State golfer Norah Seidl posted a score of 6-over 76 in the second round of the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional on Tuesday, climbing to a tie for 59th place after 36 holes at the UNC Finley Golf Course.
Seidl opened her day with seven-straight pars and concluded her round with four consecutive par-or-better holes to improve upon her score of 79 in Monday's first round. She will compete in the tournament's third and final round on Wednesday morning.
"Norah hit some good shots today. She couldn't get her putts to fall but definitely gave herself some great looks," Montana State head coach Brittany Basye said. "She had a couple great looks for birdie, which means her ball-sinking was better. It's such a great opportunity, and she's still smiling. Looking forward to playing Finley one more time and taking it all in. It's all about the opportunities."
Seidl used strong momentum from the end of Monday's opening round to put together an impressive start to Tuesday's second round, sinking seven-straight pars to open the day after concluding Monday's first round with five consecutive pars. She then carded a pair of bogeys on holes 17 and 18 and worked through a tough stretch across the first five holes of the front nine before regrouping for a strong finish. Seidl shot par or better on each of her final four holes, including a birdie on hole 8, to conclude the second round with a score of 76.
Texas surged to the team lead on Tuesday with a second-round score of 271, sitting at 10-under 550 after 36 holes of play. The Longhorns' Cindy Hsu holds the individual lead at 8-under 132, while teammate Farah O'Keefe sits three strokes back in second place at 5-under 135. North Carolina (-6), Oklahoma State (+5), NC State (+7), and Mississippi State (+9) round out the top five teams in Chapel Hill, while Princeton's Thanana Kotchasanmanee (-2) remains the top-ranked individual not on a team currently in line to advance to the NCAA Championships. Kotchasanmanee is tied for fourth place overall.
Seidl is paired with UNC Asheville's Caroline Patterson and UNC Wilmington's Victoria Levy for Wednesday's final round will tee off from hole 10 at 7:50 a.m. MT.
