Bobcat Track & Field Set to Host Performance Meet Friday

The next event for MSU this Friday, the Bobcat Performance Meet, will provide Division I competition against two conference and regional foes
BOZEMAN, Mont. – Just three meets remain for Montana State in the run up to the Big Sky Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships which will be hosted by the Bobcats in Worthington Arena. The next event for MSU this Friday, the Bobcat Performance Meet, will provide Division I competition against two conference and regional foes.
Idaho State and Montana will pay a visit to MSU's home facility as the three institutions compete in a dual scoring meet which begins at 3:30 p.m. Field events open with the men's weight throw while running events begin at 4 p.m. starting with women's 60 hurdles preliminary races.
Six Bobcats head into Friday's meet with top-50 marks in the nation. Both Duncan Hamilton and Ben Perrin each have times in two events that rank in the top 50, with Hamilton currently third in the mile (3:56.89) and Perrin 14th in the mile (4:01.84). Also among the top 50 are Drake Schneider (400), Matthew Richtman (5,000), Lucy Corbett (high jump) and Colby Wilson (pole vault).
MSU continues to build up its depth as the Bobcats near being a month away from the Big Sky meet. The Bobcats have a variety of athletes that rank among the top eight individuals on the conference's performance list as the top eight finishers in Big Sky finals competition score points at the championship meet.
MSU's women's squad has a combined 20 times and marks that rank among the top eight among the team's individuals. Elena Carter holds top marks in the Big Sky in both the long jump and 60 hurdles. Macy White has the fastest 60 dash time and the second fastest 200. Lucy Corbett has the second ranked high jump among Big Sky women this season, while Jordan Fink leads MSU's throw with the third best shot put mark in the conference.
The Bobcat men's team has 18 marks among the top eight in the league this indoor slate. Drake Schneider holds the top marks in the Big Sky in the men's 200 and 400. Hamilton and Perrin are among the top three in the men's mile. Wilson has the top mark in the pole vault this season while Carter Slade the Bobcat men's highest ranked thrower with his best shot put slotted fourth currently in the league.
Montana's top ranked individuals heading into Friday's meet are Jaydon Green (second in the men's 60 hurdles) and Jansen Ziola (second in the women's long jump). Collin Dylla is Idaho State's highest ranked men's competitor as he sits atop the conference 800 performance list. Two Bengal women sit atop the Big Sky in their respective events that will be contested Friday in Elizabeth Butler (400) and Destinee Rose-Haas (weight throw).
