June 5, 2023 - Montana State track standout Duncan Hamilton is the first Bobcat ever named to The Bowerman Watch List, the sports equivalent to the Heisman award. The Bowerman's given each year to the most outstanding male and female NCAA track and field athletes, On Monday, Hamilton was one of ten men named to the final list of the season. Hamilton, catapulted to the top ten, following his record-setting performance at the NCAA Outdoor West First Round in the 3000-meter steeplechase on May 26 in Sacramento, Calif. Hamilton's time of 8:16.23 is the second fastest steeplechase ever recorded by a collegian- second only to Washington State's Henry Rono, who clocked 8:05.40 in 1978. At the time, Hamilton's mark was the fastest in the world. He now ranks ninth and is the second fastest American.
May 26, 2023 - Montana State's Duncan Hamilton ran the World's fastest time this season in the 3000-meter steeplechase clocking a school and Big Sky record 8:16.23 on Friday at the NCAA Outdoor West First Round in Hornet Stadium. Hamilton's time is the second fastest collegiate steeplechase in history, second only to Washington State's Henry Rono who put up a mark of 8:05.40 on May 13, 1978.
Synopsis: One of the most prolific distance runners in the history of Montana State Track and Field, Duncan Hamilton has set standards that will stand the test of time. Hamilton, a product of Bozeman High School, owns six Montana State records – three indoors and three outdoors. He also holds the all-time Big Sky Conference record in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Last spring, he had a season to remember which culminated in a fourth-place steeplechase finish at the USA Track and Field Championships. Last season, he was the NCAA steeplechase runner-up. This spring, Hamilton won his fourth consecutive Big Sky Conference championship steeple title. This week, Hamilton makes his eighth consecutive NCAA Championship appearance in cross country and track this week. During his career in the Blue and Gold he has won an amazing 41 races and owns six Big Sky titles.

Cross Country (Senior): Capped off his decorated MSU cross country career by earning All-Big Sky Conference and All-Mountain Region honors ... Became one of two Bobcats to run at the NCAA Cross Country Championships three times during his career ...
