Utah Tops Bobcat Men's Tennis Team on Saturday

Regional power Utes sweep MSU in Salt Lake City
Utah edged Montana State for the doubles point then swept the singles matches in a 7-0 win over the Bobcats in men's tennis in Salt Lake City on Saturday.
The Utes' No. 1 doubles team of Russell Benkaim and Randy Cory, ranked 54th in the nation, earned a narrow 6-4 win over Nejc Sitar and Christian Damgaard Qvist, while Azat Hankuliyev and Slava Shainyan edged Joaquin Espinoza and Manuel Monteiro by the same score to capture the doubles competition.
After Montana State's Chase Stoner retired down 3-1 at No. 5 singles, and Mathias Gavelin topped MSU's Marcos Zelver 6-0, 6-4 at No. 3, Shainyan beat Joaquin Espinoza 6-2, 6-3 to clinch the match. Cory beat Damgaard Qvist 6-4, 6-4 at No. 4, while Benkaim downed Sitar 7-6, 6-3 at No. 1. Hankuliyev beat Monteiro 6-4, 7-6 at No. 6 to finish the competition.
Montana State is on the road next weekend, as well, visiting Metro State, Air Force, and CSU Pueblo.
