MSU faces regional power Utah at 10 am Saturday
BOZEMAN, Montana – The Bobcat men's tennis team begins an extended string of road matches on Saturday, when Montana State visits Utah for a 10 am dual.
One of the top programs in the intermountain West, Utah enters Saturday's play 7-4 in duals this spring. The Utes lost at Denver and New Mexico last week, and host No. 23 Iowa on Friday at the George S. Eccles Tennis Center. The Cats play Utah at 10 am Saturday. Utah is led by Franco Capalbo, who is 4-1 in No. 1 singles matches, an No. 2 player Russell Benkaim, who is 5-0 at that ladder spot.
The Bobcats have been in training mode since beating Seattle in Bozeman 4-0 on February 7. Nejc Sitar (at No. 1 singles), Marcos Zelver at No. 3, and Christian Damgaard Qvist at No. 4 all won singles matches that day, and the Bobcats won the doubles point. Damgaard Qvist and Sitar are both 2-1 in singles matches this season to lead the Cats.
After Saturday's match the Bobcats travel to Colorado for a trio of matches next weekend. MSU plays at Metro State on February 28 at 10 am, face Air Force at Parker, Colorado later that day, and visit CSU Pueblo at 1 pm on Saturday, February 29. MSU's next home match is March 7 vs. Portland State at 12 noon.
