The outside hitter from Parker, Colo., averaged 4.18 kills and 2.64 digs per set, while recording a .331 attack mark over three matches. For her efforts, she was named to the all-tournament team.
Senior Natalie Passeck put a stamp on her outstanding play at the Cleveland State Invitational posting a match-high 18 kills, while hitting .545 from the field as the Montana State volleyball team defeated Binghamton 25-15, 27-25, 25-19 on Saturday morning in Woodling Gymnasium.
The outside hitter from Parker, Colo., averaged 4.18 kills and 2.64 digs per set, while recording a .331 attack mark over three matches. For her efforts, she was named to the all-tournament team.
Also receiving all-tournament accolades was libero Allyssa Rizzo, who averaged 5.18 digs per set, including a weekend best 29 saves against Canisius.
Against Binghamton, Montana State (2-1) scored the first six points of the opening set and never looked back taking a 1-0 advantage on a Passeck kill. The Cats maintained its lead in the second stanza before the Bearcats knotted the game at 24-all. With the score tied at 25-all, MSU received a kill via setter Carina Lehto and a service ace from Sydney Mathison to go up 2-0.
In the final frame, the Cats took a 15-10 lead following an Evi Wilson kill and held the momentum sweeping the match on a Binghamton (0-3) ball handling miscue.
"We had a great response after a tough match on Friday night," said MSU head coach Daniel Jones. "Everyone came out with a fire that got us off to a hot start. We had key contributions across the stat line. What you don't see on the box score is the effect our middles, setters and defenders had on the match, keeping us in rhythm and allowing our pin hitters to get loose. It was a true team effort and win."
Also in double-figure kills for MSU was Wilson with 12 winners. The junior from Vancouver, Wash., hit .476 for the match. Lehto finished with 37 assists, while Kelsie White guided the Bobcats at the net with a match-high six blocks. Rizzo was the only Bobcat in double-digit digs with 19 saves.
"Natalie stands out statistically with an extremely efficient match, as does Evi," Jones said.
Binghamton was paced by Gaby Alicea with 14 kills and eight digs.
The Bobcats will travel to the University of Portland Tournament next weekend where it will face the Pilots, LIU Brooklyn and Wyoming.
