Cats look to advance to Big Sky Tournament
The Montana State men's tennis season boils down to one weekend as the Bobcats battle to qualify for the Big Sky Tournament.
The Cats need wins at Montana Friday and against Eastern Washington at home on Saturday, along with losses by Sacramento State (vs. Southern Utah and NAU), to extend their tourney string to six years. Match time on Friday is 2 pm at the Lindsay Tennis Center on the UM campus. Saturday's match begins at 11:30 am.
The Bobcats hope to re-insert No. 1 singles player Alex Flink back into the lineup. The junior from Stockholm, Sweden, missed last Sunday's match against Northern Colorado – a Bobcat victory – due to illness. Montana State faces a Grizzlies team on Friday battling for position at the top of the league. Montana is 7-2, and wins over the Cats and EWU could push UM into second place. Eastern Washington enters weekend play with a 3-6 mark, a game behind the Bobcats in the league standings.
Saturday's match serves as MSU's Senior Day for Rok Sitar and Adrian Torrico. Those two have held down ladder spots near the top of the MSU lineup throughout their Bobcat careers.
