MSU faces four matches in next nine days to determine post-season fate
BOZEMAN, Montana – Montana State sophomore Kasper Parlklo won for the third time in his last five matches, but Idaho claimed a 6-1 win over the Bobcats in Bozeman on Wednesday.
Parlklo's 6-7, 6-3, 7-6 win at No. 3 singles was MSU's only individual win on Wednesday, although Alexander Flink and Rok Sitar earned a victory at No. 1 doubles. Idaho swept the other two doubles matches to claim that point. From there, other than Parlklo's win it was all Idaho. The league-leading Vandals, now 7-0 in Big Sky play, dropped only one other set in singles play. That was captured by Joaquin Espinoza, who fell at No. 5 singles 5-7, 6-0, 10-4.
The Bobcats fall to 3-4 in Big Sky play, 4-11 overall, with the loss. Wednesday's match kicked off a season-closing stretch of five matches in 11 days. Including Friday's home match against Portland State, four of the remaining opponents are teams the Cats are battling for entry into the conference tournament. MSU also faces Northern Colorado on Sunday, visits Montana on April 20, and hosts Eastern Washington on April 21.
