Bobcats Host Grizzlies in Non-Conference Men's Tennis Match Saturday

Saturday's match is MSU's final non-league tune-up before conference play
It isn't quite Big Sky Conference play yet, but Montana State welcomes a Big Sky opponent to the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center Saturday when the Cats host Montana at 1 pm.
MSU's second-year head coach Jared Burnham said the non-conference contest with the Bobcats' closest rival is a good way to jump into the most important and intense part of the season. The Bobcats open Big Sky play March 1 against Portland State before hosting defending co-champion Sacramento State on March 2.
"This should be a really good match," Burnham said of Saturday's contest against Montana. "Both teams are very competitive. Montana was picked to finish high in the conference, and this is a good way to ramp things up."
Montana State has compiled a 2-2 record to this point, riding back-to-back wins over Utah State and MSU Billings, but the last match against a Division I opponent was nearly two weeks ago. Burnham said he believes his team has improved in the time between the USU and MSU Billings matches.
"I think we've gotten better," Burnham said, "but it's hard to tell without playing. Practice has gone well, the guys have been intense. So far it's been a great opening to the season."
