The Montana State volleyball team will travel to Kansas City, Missouri this weekend for the Kangaroo Klassic hosted by UMKC.

THE CITY OF FOUNTAINS AND THE PARIS OF THE PLAINS:
The Montana State volleyball team will travel to Kansas City, Missouri this weekend for the Kangaroo Klassic hosted by UMKC. The Bobcats will be looking for its first win of the season when it opens tournament play on Friday, Sept. 9 at 5 p.m. (MST) when it faces Belmont. MSU will conclude play on Saturday, Sept. 10 vs. Tennessee-Martin at 10 a.m., followed by UMKC at 5 p.m.
THAT WAS THE WEEK THAT WAS:
The Montana State volleyball team dropped a 25-23, 17-25, 25-18, 21-25, 15-8 decision to Loyola-Chicago last Sunday in the Windy City. MSU had three players in double-figure kills, including a match high 17 kills from Macy Page. Also in double digits were Lauren Curtis 16 and Sarah Horton 12. Freshman Kasey Schlatter dished out 49 assists and added 12 digs. Bobcat libero Nicole Baker paced MSU with 18 digs. Against DePaul, the Blue Demons outhit the Bobcats .383 to .088 and cruised to a 25-16, 25-17, 25-15 win. Horton led MSU with eight kills. The Bobcats opened its trip with an 18-25, 25-15, 25-22, 25-14 setback to Illinois-Chicago. MSU was led by Horton and Rachelle Allen with 12 and ten kills, respectively.
THE SCOUTING REPORT:
Montana State will look for its first win of the season when it plays in the Kangaroo Klassic hosted by UMKC this weekend. The Bobcats will face Belmont in the tournament opener. The Bruins are 3-5 overall and includes victories over Murray State, Chattanooga and Tennessee Tech. Belmont is led by senior Maggie Johnson, who has racked-up 109 kills. MSU and UT-Martin will play Saturday morning. The Skyhawks are 4-3 overall with an impressive win over the SEC's Mississippi State. Freshman Emily Keaton leads a balanced attack with 75 kills on the season. The Bobcats will face the Kangaroos (3-3) in the tourney finale' on Saturday night. UMKC is paced by senior outside hitter Kelsey Knoche, who posted 36 kills and 31 digs last weekend. UMKC has won three straight matches.
QUICK SETS:
Montana State libero Nicole Baker is currently ranked sixth in the Big Sky Conference averaging 3.83 digs per set...Baker has been in double-digits digs in six of seven matches this season, including a career-high 20 saves against South Dakota State...As a team, the Bobcats rank third in hitting percentage at .187 over the past two weeks...MSU had its best hitting performance with a .319 attack mark against Stephen F. Austin...Senior Lauren Curtis came off the bench against Loyola-Chicago last Saturday and recorded 16 and a .520 attack mark. The .520 hitting percentage is the second best registered in the Big Sky Conference this season...MSU will look to get Jennifer Lundquist (concussion) and Rachelle Allen (ankle) back into the line-up this week. The two starters were out of MSU's rotation last weekend...Allen and Alex Penewell are MSU's co-captains.
