Allen Named to All-Tournament Team

Montana State senior Rachelle Allen notched her fourth double-double of the season with 10 kills and 17 digs, en route to being named to the all-tournament team, but it wasn’t enough as the Bobcats fell 26-24, 25-21, 23-25, 25-22 to UMKC in the final match of the Kangaroo Klassic, Saturday night.
Montana State senior Rachelle Allen notched her fourth double-double of the season with 10 kills and 17 digs, en route to being named to the all-tournament team, but it wasn't enough as the Bobcats fell 26-24, 25-21, 23-25, 25-22 to UMKC in the final match of the Kangaroo Klassic, Saturday night.
In all, three Montana State (0-10) players reached double-digits, including Sarah Horton with a team-high 12 kills and Chelsea Oemcke with a season-high 11 kills.
“We competed hard,” said MSU head coach Sara Schaub. “I feel as if our team is finally starting to adjust to Kasey's (Schlatter) setting and finding ways to be successful.
“We really need to now figure out how to be consistent,” Schaub added.
Schlatter, a true-freshman, has stepped into the starting setting role vacated by junior Jennifer Lundquist, who has been sidelined for two weeks with a concussion. Schlatter ended the match with UMKC with a double-double, recording 44 assists and 16 digs.
Libero Nicole Baker paced the Bobcats defensively with a career-high 28 digs. Oemcke led MSU at the net with seven blocks.
Earlier on Saturday, Montana State dropped a 25-16, 25-19, 25-21 decision to Tennessee-Martin. Macy Page led MSU with six kills, while Baker added 11 digs.
The Bobcats will open its Big Sky Conference season next weekend at Northern Arizona and Northern Colorado.
