Cats in the Community
During the 2014-15 academic year the Bobcats contributed 3,661 hours of community service to the Gallatin Valley Community. MSU student-athletes aided in collecting over 171,000 pounds of food, a new record, and $78,272 to benefit the Gallatin Valley Bank, Livingston Food Pantry and the families that they serve.
Bobcat student-athletes held two other collection drives in 2014-15; a school supply drive to benefit Bozeman school children, who could not afford school supplies, and a change drive that supported Samaritan’s Feet and NACWA.
The Bobcats also worked with many organizations, including Boys and Girls Club of Gallatin Valley, Heart of the Valley Animal Shelter, Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Gallatin Valley YMCA- to name a few.
In addition, Bobcats spent countless hours in the local schools reading and tutoring as well as doing a host of other community service projects. Bobcat student-athletes know how much the Bozeman community does to support them through scholarships, attending athletic events and volunteering to make athletic events possible. Because of this, it is important for Bobcat student-athletes to give back to the community that gives them so much and the opportunity to live out lifelong dreams.
