Track and field stand-out Carley McCutchen claimed Capital One Academic All-District 8 honors, CoSIDA announced Friday. McCutchen graduated from MSU in December of 2014 in Mechanical Engineering and is currently pursuing her master's in the same field.
The Buckley, WA native has been a member of Montana State's Dean and President's list every semester since becoming a Bobcat, in addition to being a member of the Big Sky All-Academic team with a 4.0 GPA.
McCutchen ranks at the top of MSU's record books on several occasions as she had a break through final two seasons for the 'Cats. Not only did she break the school's pentathlon and heptathlon records in 2015, but she was crowned Big Sky Conference Champion in both events and broke the conference pentathlon record. The 60-meter hurdles record is now in McCutchen's name with four other top-ten finishes.
"Carley has been a tremendous competitor for us for the last five years," head coach Dale Kennedy said. "She is an exceptional student-athlete, with her academics always coming first. She deserves every bit of recognition as one of the top student-athletes in the country."
