MSU, Montana look for conference tournament seeding
BOZEMAN, Mont. (April 17, 2026) – With a berth in the 2026 Big Sky Conference Men's Tennis Tournament secured, Montana State head coach Mateus Ceolin has a simple plan for his team's regular season finale against Montana on Saturday.
"Just go out and play," he said. "Compete hard. Have fun."
Montana State hosts the Grizzlies with a Big Sky Tournament berth in hand, and only seeding at stake. While the Cats own a 3-3 league record (7-11 overall), the Grizzlies (12-7, 5-1 Big Sky) play Saturday with a chance to grab a share of the Big Sky title. A UM win, coupled with an NAU loss to Idaho, would forge a tie atop the league standings.
Colin said Montana offers a formidable challenge. "They play good doubles and are a fundamentally sound team," he said. "They're very experienced, very mature, with a lot of seniors."
After a 3-7 start the Bobcats steadied the ship. MSU owns a 4-4 mark in the most recent eight matches, including consecutive wins over Sacramento State and Weber State.
"It will be a great challenge," Ceolin said, "but we're excited to play at home. We hope we'll have a lot of fans and make it a great environment."
Match time is 1 pm in the Bobcat-Andeson Tennis Center. Admission is free.
