Track & Field to Host Bobcat Challenge Starting Friday

Meet marks the second of four indoor home meets for the Bobcats this season
BOZEMAN, Mont. --- The Montana State track & field program returns home for its second meet of the season this Friday and Saturday, hosting the Bobcat Challenge at the Kennedy-Stark Athletic Center on Jan. 23-24. The meet marks the Bobcats' first since the one-day Bobcat PReview on Dec. 4 and opens a string of six-straight competition weeks that concludes with the Big Sky Indoor Championships in Pocatello, Idaho, on Feb. 26-28.
The meet is set to begin at 2 p.m., with Preston Wysocki competing first for the Bobcats in the heptathlon's 60-meter dash and Sabine Brueck and Hailey Ells following at 2:10 p.m. in the pentathlon's 60-meter hurdles. Field events begin with the women's pole vault featuring Tatum Richards, Megan Bell, and Libby Hansen at 3:30 p.m., and running events open with the women's mile at 6:15 p.m. as a group of seven Bobcat women take the track.

Nonperishable food and essential item donations will be collected during the meet as part of Track It Forward, an initiative spearheaded by Bobcat senior Xavier Simpson to serve the Bozeman community. New, unused, and unopened items collected at this weekend's meet will be donated to the Gallatin County Food Bank, and items can be dropped off in the labeled donation box near the entrance of the KSAC. Five teams are set to bring athletes to Bozeman this weekend, with Carroll College, Idaho State, Montana, and Wyoming joining the Bobcats inside the Kennedy-Stark Athletic Center on Friday and Saturday.
A total of 70 Bobcats, 35 from each team, are scheduled to compete at the Bobcat Challenge. On the men's side, Ethan Anderson, Noah Barbery, Eli Boppart, Trystin Chapel, Hunter Bear Cloud, Nash Coley, Harvey Cramb, Billy Cunningham, Sam Ells, Jackson Fagerlin, Matt Furdyk, Will Giesen, Tyler Gilman, Ryan Harrington, Easton Hatleberg, Talon Holmquist, Jordan Lasher, Niko Mann, Chase McGee, Rob McManus, Mathias Mees, Peyton Nelson, Destiny Nkeonye, Mario Oblad, Nicola Paletti, Ben Parks, AJ Ringert, Ben Saelens, Malikye Simpson, Xavier Simpson, Blaise Snow, Michael Swan, Stryder Todd-Fields, Drake Wilkes, and Preston Wysocki are expected to compete over the course of the two-day meet.
For the women, Megan Bell, Tilde Bjerager, Emma Brensdal, Sydney Brewster, Sabine Brueck, Hailey Coey, Stella Diaz, Hailey Ells, Giulia Gandolfi, Peyton Garrison, Libby Hansen, Caroline Hawkes, Maggie Hillis, Millie Hubbell, Annie Kaul, Eva Koos, Olivia Lewis, Jenavieve Lynch, Sydney Mattfeldt, Sophia Miller, Kalei Moravitz, Ada Nelson, Hannah Perrin, Tamia Ramos, Brooke Reuter, Tatum Richards, Ave Roberts, Iris Rogel, Claire Rutherford, Madi Siana, Kaitlyn Skinner, Jadyn VanDyken, Hailey Watkins, Jaeden Wolff, and Jada Zorn are all scheduled to appear for the Bobcats.
Montana State last competed on Dec. 4, hosting the Bobcat PReview in the brand-new Kennedy-Stark Athletic Center to open the indoor season. Hailey Coey provided the highlight of the meet, jumping to a school and conference-record mark of 6.42 meters/21 feet, 0.75 inches to win the long jump. She was named Big Sky Women's Field Athlete of the Week for her efforts. Led by Coey's mark, the Bobcats tallied 14 event wins, two school records, one conference record, and seven improvements to the program's all-time top-10 list. Sydney Brewster provided the other school-record mark with a heave of 16.44m/53-11.25 to win the shot put by nearly two meters.
The 2025-26 indoor season will take the Bobcats around the west as Montana State competes in seven regular-season meets before opening the postseason. MSU's indoor slate consists of the Bobcat PReview (Dec. 4) and the Bobcat Challenge (Jan. 23-24) in Bozeman before the Bobcats trek to Pocatello, Idaho, for the Stacy Dragila Invite (Jan. 30). Montana State returns home for the Carignan Classic (Feb. 6) before splitting squads between the Don Kirby Elite Invitational and the Husky Classic (Feb. 13-14). Montana State hosts the Big Sky Tuner (Feb. 19) to wrap up the regular season before returning to Pocatello for the Big Sky Indoor Championships (Feb. 26-28). The Bobcats will wrap up indoor competition at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., on March 13-14.
