Eddie Biss and Yassin Elaroussy Capture Singles Wins, but Bobcats Fall at Grand Canyon

Montana State dropped a hard-fought match on Friday
A pair of Bobcats earned singles wins, but Grand Canyon captured the singles point and four of the six singles matches to beat Montana State 5-2 in men's tennis in Phoenix, Ariz., on Friday.
At No. 3 singles, Eddie Biss came from behind for a 6-7 (5-7), 6-2, 13-11 victory of Matteo Lugari, while Yassin Elaroussy captured a 4-6, 6-4, 10-8 win over Finbar McGarvey at No. 5 singles. Those were the only Bobcat wins of the day.
"I'm really happy for Yassin and Eddie for getting the win in singles," said Bobcat coach Mateus Ceolin. "They are figuring out their identity on the court. This is their hard work paying off."
The Bobcats dropped a close decision at No. 3 singles, where Andre Stewart and Camille Chantron dropped a 7-5 decision. Biss and Elaroussy dropped a match at No. 2 singles to allow GCU to take the doubles point. Grand Canyon's four singles wins came in straight sets.
"This group has a big heart," Ceolin said. "They love to compete. I'm looking forward to (Saturday) and a new opportunity."
The Cats play UC San Diego at 10 am Saturday at the GCS tennis complex.
