MSU is in the hunt for a top six finish and a spot in the Big Sky Tournament, April 27-29.
Montana State's women's tennis team plays its final three matches of the season at the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center beginning Friday morning at 9 a.m. when it hosts Eastern Washington in Big Sky Conference action. MSU is in the hunt for a top six finish and a spot in the Big Sky Tournament, April 27-29.
Northern Arizona looks to clinch the regular season Big Sky title, this weekend, while Sacramento State and Weber State are tied for second with 4-1 league marks. The final three spots will likely be contested by six schools, including the Bobcats.
"All season we've had the mantra of one match at a time and being one day better," said MSU head coach Suzie Woodburn. "Eastern Washington is a well-coached team and always comes out tough.
"The doubles point is going to be critical," Woodburn added. "We've been working on doubles all week, setting up our partners and finding the middle ball. The girls are confident and ready to go."
Montana State has been strong in singles play the past two weeks, defeating Idaho and forcing three matches to three sets at NAU, last Sunday in Flagstaff.
"We've been very competitive in singles," Woodburn said. "When things are going our way, we need to keep going after it, making adjustments, and disrupting our opponents. We're working hard and when you do that, good things happen. Making the Big Sky Conference tournament is doable."
The Bobcats last trip to the Big Sky Tournament was in 2017.
MSU hosts Portland State on Sunday at 9 a.m., before closing out the season April 15 against Idaho State.
"We feel best playing at home," Woodburn said. "We're thrilled to be playing in front of our home crowd."
